Pro Bono Work

Spiritual Rehabilitation

It is told that the Rabbi of Lublin once stopped in the middle of the street to watch a man removing rust that had accumulated over many years on a wheelbarrow. The rabbi watched the man for a long time, and finally the rabbi asked the man why he was working so long and so hard to remove the rust. The man replied, “Unless I remove the rust, I can no longer use the wheelbarrow. But rabbi, why does what I am doing interest you so much?”

Said the rabbi, “Souls also accumulate rust. Like the wheelbarrow, if they acquire too much rust, they cannot do what they were made for. While I have been watching you, I have been trying to figure out how I can repair rusty souls.”

Diverse Journeys offers ‘free-of-charge’ pro bono seminars, workshops and retreats for staff members of volunteer organisations who provide service for the betterment of society.

The beneficiaries of this offer are not-for-profit organisations whose volunteer work-force may not otherwise have access to education and training in the diversity of spiritual and wisdom traditions: stress-management and relaxation, meditation and contemplation, midlife and elder education, East-West philosophy, and so on.

The purpose of Diverse Journeys’ pro bono educational services is to provide volunteer groups with high quality guidance in the human, social sciences and spirituality that may lead to and include the following benefits:

  • Improved self-knowledge.
  • Assistance with specific issues related to self-development (e.g. midlife and ageing issues, stress management, meditation and contemplation, interfaith dialogue, etc.).
  • A sense of overall wellness and connectedness for the group and individuals.
  • The opportunity to learn together with other volunteers who want to make a positive contribution to society.
  • The opportunity to learn and apply good human science and/or spiritual practices.
  • Personal and professional growth from new experiences.
  • Becoming a more insightful as well as integral part of the community and its neighbors.
  • Such pro bono learning opportunities may enhance career development and offer networking opportunities.

Individuals and not-for-profit groups who wish to avail themselves of such services should directly contact Dr Meath Conlan: meath@diversejourneys.com
